Obesity Treatment, Metabolic Health and Healthy Longevity

Welcome to my website. I’m Dr. Asnat Raziel, and I’m very pleased that you’ve found your way here.

Throughout my life, I’ve been guided by a deep interest in medicine, the human body, and the many factors that influence our health and well-being. My professional and personal journey has brought me to a fascinating meeting point between modern medicine, the connection between body and mind, and the emerging science of healthy longevity.

What has always mattered most to me is helping people make meaningful, lasting improvements in their lives. I believe that good health is not simply the absence of disease, but the ability to live with energy, independence, emotional balance, and a genuine sense of well-being.

I am a medical doctor and surgeon specializing in obesity treatment, bariatric surgery, and minimally invasive surgery, with extensive clinical experience in Israel and abroad. In 2005, I founded the Multidisciplinary Center for Obesity Treatment at Assia Medical, Assuta Ramat HaChayal Hospital in Tel Aviv, and I have directed it ever since.

From the beginning, my vision was to approach obesity as a complex medical condition that requires much more than a single treatment. Over the years, we have developed a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that brings together advanced medical therapies, nutritional counseling, psychological support, gastroenterology, plastic surgery, and personalized guidance toward a healthier lifestyle.

My medical career has taken me through many different fields and experiences. I served as a flight surgeon in the Israeli Air Force, participated in complex rescue missions, completed diving and parachuting courses, and earned a private pilot’s license. Alongside my medical work, aviation and adventure have always been important parts of my life, reflecting my curiosity, love of learning, and willingness to explore new horizons.

My professional training also took me to leading medical centers around the world, where I gained experience in cardiac surgery in Switzerland, trauma surgery in the United States, and abdominal surgery in France.

One of the most significant periods of my career was a two-year fellowship in Minneapolis, where I trained alongside Professor Henry Buchwald, a world-renowned pioneer of bariatric surgery and former president of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO). During this fellowship, I participated in hundreds of complex surgical procedures and gained invaluable experience that shaped my approach to obesity treatment and metabolic health.

Over the years, I have published dozens of scientific papers in leading medical journals, presented my work at international medical conferences, and had the privilege of mentoring young women pursuing careers in surgery.

As my clinical experience grew, I became increasingly interested in the broader aspects of health and the factors that enable people to maintain lasting physical and emotional well-being.

Treating obesity taught me that meaningful change involves much more than medical intervention alone. Our daily habits, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, emotional health, relationships, and personal outlook all play important roles in our overall health.

This understanding led me to broaden my studies beyond conventional medicine and explore integrative medicine, mindfulness, positive psychology, the Metaism approach, ThetaHealing, and holistic coaching.

In 2018, I founded the Living Large project, bringing together my medical background and my interest in a more comprehensive approach to health and personal well-being. These additional fields have enriched my perspective and deepened my appreciation of the connection between physical health, emotional resilience, and quality of life.

In recent years, my professional interests have naturally expanded into the field of healthy longevity medicine.

After decades of treating obesity and metabolic disease, I became increasingly fascinated by a broader question: how can we help people remain healthy, active, mentally sharp, and independent as they grow older?

Healthy longevity medicine seeks to extend not only lifespan, but also healthspan—the years of life spent in good health and with a high level of physical, cognitive, and emotional functioning.

This evolving field combines preventive medicine, early identification of health risks, metabolic health, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, and advances in our understanding of the biological processes of aging.

I find this area of medicine particularly meaningful because it offers an opportunity to shift our focus from treating disease after it develops to actively preserving health and function throughout life.

While there is still much to learn about the biology of aging, we already have substantial scientific evidence showing that many aspects of our health and quality of life can be improved through appropriate medical care and sustainable lifestyle changes.

Today, I focus on the medical and holistic treatment of obesity and metabolic disease, alongside my growing work in healthy longevity medicine. My aim is to bring together decades of clinical experience, current scientific knowledge, and a personalized approach that considers each person’s individual needs, circumstances, and goals.

I believe deeply in the importance of the relationship between doctor and patient. For me, good medical care begins with listening, understanding, and creating a relationship based on mutual trust and respect.

Every person has a unique story, and every journey toward better health is different. I strive to offer professional, compassionate guidance and practical tools that help people make lasting changes while feeling supported and confident along the way.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine, while also recognizing the importance of emotional well-being, personal motivation, and the everyday choices that shape our lives.

I also believe that caring for our health should be a positive and enriching experience. Living well means being able to enjoy the things that matter to us—our families, friendships, interests, activities, and the freedom to continue discovering and experiencing life.

Through this website, I hope to share reliable medical information, new scientific developments, and practical insights into obesity treatment, metabolic health, healthy living, and the evolving field of longevity medicine.

My wish is to make this knowledge accessible, interesting, and useful, and to encourage you to take an active and informed role in caring for your health.

Thank you for visiting. I invite you to explore the articles and information on my website, and I hope you will find ideas and inspiration that contribute to your own journey toward better health and well-being.

I believe that the true goal of longevity medicine is not simply to add more years to our lives, but to help us enjoy those years with health, vitality, independence, and fulfillment.
